My first book, My Friend Sancho, was published in May 2009, and went on to become the biggest selling debut novel released that year in India. It is a contemporary love story set in Mumbai, and had earlier been longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize 2008. To learn more about the book, click here.

I finally saw Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi yesterday, and was astonished to find that it was even worse than I’d expected. Shah Rukh Khan’s alleged acting was no surprise to me—he played two absurd caricatures, and hammed furiously. Nor was I surprised by the implausibilities, or how much it dragged, or the melodrama, and so on. No, what stunned me was the scene (spoiler alert) in which the heroine touches her husband’s feet, after realising that she sees God in him. I couldn’t believe they could show a scene like that in a 2008 film. If I was Gauri Khan, I’d totally kick Shah Rukh’s ass.
In contrast, see this girl. Now that’s the spirit.
